CMAM is an approach to manage acute malnutrition that inludes: community outreach for early case detection and referral; outpatient care using ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) for children 6-59 months who have severe acute malnutrition (SAM) with no medical complications; and inpatient care for children with SAM who are under 6 months of age or 6-59 months of age with medical complications.
