Most at-risk populations (MARPs)

Primarily used in association with HIV prevalence, the term MARPs focuses on female sex workers, clients of female sex workers, injecting drug users, and men who have sex with men. Also of concern are the sexual partners of MARPs, who may not be aware that they are at risk. These other priority populations, which are primarily composed of women of reproductive age and adolescents, would include sexual partners of injecting drug users, female partners of men who have sex with men, and partners of sex worker clients.
